Biography

I am a social epidemiologist with extensive training and experience in quantitative methods of assessing social determinants of health and health inequities, namely inequities associated with structural racism, housing insecurity, and the criminal legal system. My research focuses on operationalizing structural racism in relationship to health inequities, namely assessing 1) neighborhood variation in cancer risk (including HPV, Hepatitis, & HIV risk as well as tobacco/nicotine use), 2) lung cancer disparities across the cancer continuum, & 3) operationalizing structural racism in relationship to cancer, HIV, and aging. I serve as the PI for a pilot project focused on assessing the relationship between neighborhood gentrification and displacement and healthcare utilization for HIV and mental health services among individuals using federally qualified health centers. I also serve as PI for a K01 award investigating the relationship between tobacco policy implementation and youth vaping access and behavior in Florida. I serve as a co-I on a R01 investigating the relationship between structural racism and Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, focused on creation, compilation, and validation of measures.
