My research and outreach focuses on risk-taking among adolescents and college students, promoting positive family development, parenting adolescents and college students, and the role of technology in these relationships. A critical piece of my work is developing research-based outreach services to promote positive family development. I led a FSoS collaboration with UMN Extension to launch the website, Parenting College Students: When your child goes to college, that provides information about the issues faced most often by college students and their families and provides tips for parents and families so they can support their student’s success.
Another of my current research projects is Parenting2.0, a collaborative project designed to gain a better understanding of the ways, and the reasons that parents use technology and to better understand the outcomes from parents’ use of technology.
