Housing Assistance and Healthcare Access Among Older Adults with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias:
Evidence from Multisource Linked Survey-Administrative Data
The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry | LCC Member: Andrew Fenelon
By linking data from the National Health Interview Survey (NIHS), HUD administrative housing records, and Medicare enrollment and claims records, Fenelon and co-author Chen were able to look at a sample size of 46,269 participants, aged 65 and above. In this nationally representative study of older adults with ADRD, those receiving housing assistance tended to maintain a usual source of care, but experience cost-related barriers to necessary care.
